The Enterprise discovers an escape pod containing one badly injured humanoid survivor. The survivor, nicknamed ‘John Doe’ by Doctor Crusher, saves himself (and others) with miraculous healing powers. His body is also mutating, but no one knows why, not even him; he has lost all memory of his past.

Comments

This unremarkable but appealing episode typifies the ‘seek out new life and new civilizations’ credo of Star Trek.

Beverly says, "John, I don’t believe you’re capable of harming anyone", even though she was there when John accidentally killed (and then reanimated) Worf.
